Zumba

I’m going to try to update once a week on how I am doing with my working out, etc…

This week exercising was pretty much out of the question. Not because I was so hurt but because of the pain meds I was taking. I wasn’t able to wake up early enough to work out. But yesterday a friend went with me to the Zumba class at the gym. We’re allowed to bring a guest, so I took advantage of it. I’m very glad C went with me otherwise I might have snuck out early. Zumba is a dance aerobics class. Supposedly its latin dance inspired, but there were many other dance types as well. At one point we had the twist. That was the only one that I was actually able to keep up with! The rest were very difficult. Some of the moves I won’t do (the grammar here is correct – its not that I can’t do them; I won’t do them) but as I suspected, I found it easy to substitute something else. Of course I was so exhausted by the end I was pretty much standing in place, moving my feet a bit. It’ll be great once I can make it through the full hour.

It was incredibly disturbing when I looked up and saw a guy watching all of the women in the class. There is a walking track that overlooks the area that we were in. He would get a big grin when they were doing certain moves (ones that I won’t do) and at one point had his cell phone out. I finally had enough of the peeping Tom and left and went to the front desk. They promptly asked him to leave the area and she told me if he came back they would escort him out of the building! Whohoo! Turns out that several other women had noticed him but didn’t think anything could be done about it. I knew better….

There were other guys that would stop and look, but it was always for a few minutes at most and it was always obvious they were looking at a specific woman. When I followed their gaze I could tell that she was his wife or girlfriend. Those guys didn’t bother me at all. This guy? Gross me out.

The employee was also great because she said she sent an email to her manager. Apparently they used to do walk throughs in the area to keep people from starring at the women during the Zumba class, but apparently they’ve stopped. I know how to make a fuss, so if it happens again, you betcha that I’ll go to the front desk. Every. single. time.

Since I couldn’t work out at all last week, I did much better with eating. I bought salad and chicken and potatoes and took them to the office. Each day I ate a yummy salad with chicken (no dressing) and cooked a red potato in the microwave. I love red potatoes and I love summer. They are so flavorful that there was no need to put anything on it.

I didn’t do so well with my breakfeasts and dinners. Breakfeast since I would wake up so late, I ended up just snacking until lunch time. Dinner, I didn’t even try.

My goal this week is to get to the gym at least 3 times (though I’d like to go 5 times – the water aerobics class on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and the Zumba class on Tuesday and Thursday), to eat a healthy breakfest and a healthy lunch. Next week I’ll worry about dinner :)
